A flawless complexion is lying just beneath the surface of your skin – and skincare professionals have found that a classic treatment, like ancient Egypt classic, is the fastest way there.
Known as one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world, performed in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to help people achieve beautiful skin, chemical peel, however, had not gained the peak of its mainstream popularity until the 90s, when physicians finally tapped into its powers to address a multitude of skin issues.
After being eclipsed by skin resurfacing lasers in the early 2000s, the chemical peel is back on top at dermatologists’ offices. A modern peel, however, is not just a total retread. As time progressed, acid formulas have been refined, and so have dermatologists’ approaches to using them.
Peels can make your skin and skincare products work better. As acids lift away dead cells, signals are sent to the living cells below to multiply and move up, to increase collagen production – to act younger, revealing smoother skin that’s both radiant and more receptive. Your skincare products will perform better after a peel because there are no dead cells impending their penetration.
The right peel can end acne and soften scars left by it. Salicylic acid blend peels dive deep into the skin to unclog pores while also skimming the surface to erode blackheads and repair pigment and textural damage caused by acne marks and scars.
Nothing controls melasma better. There isn’t a permanent cure for dark patches brought on by hormonal surges, but chemical peels offer the best fighting chance.
VI Peel® stands out as a new generation of chemical treatments, one of the safest and most effective chemical peels currently available.
It is the first peel to combine the strongest and most effective acids, without inconveniencing your daily life. Suitable for all skin types and safe for all ages and ethnicities, it provides dramatic results with no skin preparation and minimal downtime. The synergic blends of its active ingredients are formulated to improve the texture and clarity of the skin, diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation, soften fine lines and wrinkles, and stimulate fibroblast activity, increasing collagen and elastin production.
The VI Peel® uses a unique combination of ingredients for optimal skin renewal:
- Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) – smooths deep scars and stimulates collagen growth
- Retin-A – softens fine lines and moderate wrinkles
- Salicylic Acid – exfoliates the tissue and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent
- Phenol – treats deep lines and creases
- Vitamin C – an antioxidant used to brighten the skin
The VI Peel® Process.
A VI Peel® experience at Juno Dermatology starts with a private consultation, which allows our practitioners to perform a quick exam of a patient’s skin, discuss any relevant medical history, and review aesthetic goals and desires to determine whether VI Peel® is the right treatment for a patient’s unique situation.
Before the application of a peel, a patient’s skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove all traces or oil and dirt. The VI Peel® solution is then applied to the face in layers, which will remain on the skin for four hours. The office appointment will take about 30 minutes from start to finish. Our expert estheticians will provide clear instructions on when and how to remove the VI Peel® at home. An after-care kit will be provided, and we will educate you on the best way to use these products to ensure optimal results.
Two to three days after the VI Peel® application, the skin will begin to peel. This process can last between three and seven days, depending on the patient’s skin type and condition. Moisturizer can be used during this time to help mask the noticeable appearance of peeling. While the skin is healing, it may be extra sensitive, so patients should continuously wear sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher during the peeling process. Once the skin is fully healed, in about 14 days, patients will notice a smoother, healthier complexion.
A single VI Peel® can significantly repair sun damaged, aging skin, leaving it looking luminous, smooth and soft. However, in order to achieve optimal results, more than one treatment may be necessary.
Like everything else in life, human skin needs maintenance. The VI Peel’s wonderful results will last as long as one’s skin care is maintained, sun exposure is minimal and preventive treatments with VI Peel® are performed three or four times per year.
